Don't forget the fish & chip shop near the ground serves Faggots mash & peas! A rare treat!

Won't be as cold as that Tuesday night a few years ago down there. Where there was frost on the terraces and about 20 bromley contingent froze there cotton socks off! If I remember rightly PJD scored one off his belly!

If I remember rightly PJD scored one off his belly! That still ranks as the worst goal I've ever seen!

This game looks increasingly more crucial. Looking at the fixtures, Basingstoke could pick up maximum points from here on in (big ask for them, but possible, I can certainly see them picking up between 14 and 16 points out of the 18 available, taking them to 77-79 points). Given that we have to play Boreham Wood and have an unenviable trip to Gosport on the final day (not to mention that we need to rectify the home form) I can't see how we can be happy with anything less than 3 points on Saturday. Last week's loss has removed the buffer for potential slip ups we had and we simply can't afford any more dropped points as things stand. Since the fixtures came out last July my reaction was that I didn't want us to have to go to Gosport in need of a win - a fact that was reinforced by their trouncing of us earlier in the season - the only way to be certain of that right now is to win all 5 of the games prior to then - that would give us 81 points and see us virtually there (unless Basingstoke do win all their games plus make up a 6 goal difference swing). Back in January I predicted 81 points would be needed to win the league - might be we can get away with one or two less but it won't be any more than that.

I am agreeing now as our home form is crap.I would take a point home to Boreham but i think we may need three. The way we are playing at the moment we just dont look good enough to get through the playoffs against an in form team Last few games we been humping the ball up to the smallest centre foreward in the league.Just not playing well when the finishing post is in sight. Basingstoke now looking favourites.

Right it's Bath time. One of those days where I would take a point but three are really required. I would expect changes from last week. PJD must stand a chance to start. Maybe even give birch a go? Come on you Lillywhites let's be having you.

Would anyone like to comment on that second half shambles?? I am lost for words & the 8 cans I have consumed on a 1 1/2 train journey haven't helped. Are we deliberately throwing this away?

Is it over? who knows? how did we throw away a 2 goal lead?
A new stand behind the goal? Executive boxes talked about? Indoor football pitches? Possibilities of another bar?
Questions still remain with the chairman etc? Last 5 games form 13th in the league is that good enough?
If you can answer any of these questions would be appreciated?

Carry on Bromley. Don't want to hear the “we go again next week brigade” seven points dropped in last few weeks in my book. I'm off to bed sulking.

Our current form will not get us promoted.Boreham have won their last four away games and we have been poor at home. It is a wonder how our fate still remains in our own hands. We are still in the driving seat.despite not playing well for most of the last few months.
Really need to get their heads around the biggest game of their lives this weekend.Fail to beat Boreham this Saturday and our best chance has gone.
Put that Bromley shirt on and go play your bolloxs off its now a matter of pride and getting those champions medals.

I may be very much on my own in this view, and this view is probably tainted by not being at the game and seeing us lose a 2 goal league, but gaining a point on Basingstoke actually seems more of a positive to me than dropping 2 on Boreham Wood. Next Saturday is now probably the biggest fixture in the club's modern-day history but I believe the players will step up to the plate. If we get that win, we're very much in the driving seat AND would again have a bit of wriggle room on the other realistic challengers even if they both go on to win all of their remaining games, as we'd be ahead of Boreham Wood with a game in hand and (at least) 4 clear of Basingstoke. Put simply, it's all about Saturday and we know exactly what we need to do. Lets do it.

Carry on Bromley. Don't want to hear the “we go again next week brigade” seven points dropped in last few weeks in my book. I'm off to bed sulking. 'We go again' must rank as one of the more irritating football cliches of recent usage. Who coined it? What does it actually mean, if anything? Like 'one game at a time' and 'our destiny is in our own hands', 'we go again' appears to me to combine an admission of ineptitude combined with a very contemporary/New Labour refusal to apportion blame. 'We go again', and again, and yet again... with the same half-assed results which you pay for. But we're all on two-year contracts, so what can you do about it? This would strike me as a more honest response. Indeed, to those tempted to cite 'we go again' as a catch-all mea culpa for general incompetence, let me suggest a rival cliche from no less a source than Albert Einstein. 'Insanity: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results.' Insert this line the next time Messrs Hall or Cook reprise 'we go again' and you will go some way towards reclaiming meaningful language. (Or so I see it.) I wonder whether Andrew Lloyd Webber reads Back to Hayes Lane? Not something I have much recourse, sadly, to greatly ponder... but sir, if you do, may I propose 'We Go Again' as a musical bed-fellow to your many other iconic songs, such as 'Love Changes Everything' and 'The Point Of No Return'? I hear the Readings have a used car they would like you to look at as well, sir. (Sung to the tune of 'We'll Meet Again' 'We go again/ Don't know where, why or when/ But I know we'll walk the Lane On Saturday/ We go again/ We must all be insane/ But we love it all the same/ We go again..!' WORD.

well said capt, our strikers are rubbish. we should be home and dry, does mg know what he is doing, when we do face facts and get shot, what team would want him as a manager? and while im at it were the readings not his mates?

Robin Hood - granted we all have opinions, but seriously, questioning MG as manager? Are we not in the driving seat to win this league??? (Ok we seem to be doing a goo job of throwing it away BUT he's part of the reason we are where we are!!!)

I accept us paying supporters should be able to say our views, and the forum is the only way to do that, but now snot the time to be questioning the manager, players, we are still very much in the hunt for the league. I would much rather the players staying positive than moaning, being negative. I honestly think we're a decent conference south team, which we are proving, but to think we should be winning the league without dropping points in the run in is a little hopeful. How many of are players have been established conference players, not many I don't think, The players need a manager who is going to be positive, and who they respect, which MG is with them. Come on how many of us three or four years ago would of thought we'd be in this position, we have a chance, let's wait till the end of the season to make judgements, nows the time to back the team in whatever way we can, I'm sure there will be ups and downs in the run in but surely this is still an successful season. You only have to look at Ebbsfleet to see things take time and however much you pay players this level is still hard to win matches. I respect all supporters of Bromley, agree with lots of comments, just feel sometimes we need to look at where we were a few years back, and enjoy chasing for promotion as with all this not knowing what's going on with the board etc we may not have this again for a while.
On a different note, I'm driving to maidenhead from orpington with my two kids, so have room for four if anyone is stuck.

Just to clarify: I was having a satirical moan, nothing to take too seriously. I'm not one for taking personal shots at individuals, whether players or staff.
Having said that, people are very entitled to express their opinions and questions will inevitably asked if things go wrong. We don't need to shut down debate under the banner of 'positivity'. We're not in North Korea just yet..!

nice post Matt, I'm of the opinion we can do the biz next Saturday and stand firmly behind MG and the crew ( but I hold my hands up I wasn't at Bath yesterday so fair juice to those who were), it's all to play for and very much in our own hands. The Captain does have a point however, forums are for healthy debate and banter - within reason - but the current (unknown) situ with the board hasn't helped. Let's hope there's a big old crowd at HL at weekend who have a bit of patience and get behind the team.
As an aside, yesterday at work I happened to notice that my BFC mug has developed a big crack down the side - not a metaphor for the remainder of the season I hope ? And especially as back in Aug I stuck a ton on us to win the league at 5/1. KTF

I am a firm believer in omens and the power of symbols, Rich - so that chimes a (portentous) chord with me. We saw another manifestation in the string of unconnected accidents involving key personnel, etc... The Bromley curse is very real and seemingly - hopefully not - about to strike again.
Unrelated, but those who dismissed the rumours as mere sh*t-stirring will be interested to learn all the Fortress-related signage has been removed from the ground, and we are officially just plain old Hayes Lane once again. Every cloud, etc...
