While reading The Bromley Boy's to my son and given his love for the club that he has developed, like alot of boy's his age all he wants to talk about is football.Given the conversations that we have been having lately about clubs, players grounds, the conversation got round to best ever players.Given that alot of people on here have seen many players over the years and far more than me,your choices would have to be going further back back have a feeling that it will create some debate amongst us all.My choice in the time i have been going is either Mcleary or Nic Mcdonnell.

Best player I've seen play for Bromley was Simon Keith, a Canadian international who had a heart transplant. Only played a few games for us, but he was quality.
Favourite player has to be Alan Scotting, just ahead of Curtis Hayes & Dean Wordsworth. from this century (!) I'd say Simon Osborn is the best I've seen.

From my 34years at BFC Garath McCleary would be up there, Carlton Fairweather who ended up in the top flight at Wimbledon and for raw talent Landy Zahana Oni who went to Luton. His free kick at Boreham Wood was on par with Roberto Carlos and his solo winning goal at home to Enfield was incredible.

Tony Nantcurvis played number 11 about 1972-74 Welsh Amateur International. Class player but I was only a kid then and so may have slightly warped memory, not unlike his shirt where the numbers weren't parrell.

Alan Stonebridge and Jim Brown, for me. I never saw Scotting, but a friend assures me that he's the greatest player to ever pull on a Bromley shirt. Nantcurvis was fantastic, Bern. I remember his first game very well - it was very exciting having an international playing for us.

For out and out ability/quality I'd say McCleary but Ollie Adedeji was a class act at centre-back.

Alan Scotting - Pure class
McCleary & Keith were very good, but for me didn't stay long enough to be classed as best ever Bromley player.

I can think of a number of players that would qualify for this honour. I watched Bromley back in the 60´s and early 70´s so names like Colin England Johnny Warman, Pat Brown, Roy Agar and Dennis Studley stand in my mind. Tony Nantcurvis used to teach me history at Ravensbourne and he was a good skillful player but not the best I saw. I would narrow my choice to Colin England or Dennis Studley who reminded me so much of the great Alan Gilzean of Spurs.

Seen lots of good players over the years but one that always sticks in my mind was Micky Brown, he just showed great joy every time he scored, one of those infectious players who makes you smile.

An idea for the fanzine Col?
How about a team of Bromley's best player in each position (in with a shout and off the top of my head i'd include; Foderingham, Wood, McCleary, Dunk, Osborn, McDonnell Hall,
all recent i appreciate, but a start)
Or a team of Bromley legends -contenders for me include;
Curtis Hayes/Andy Walker Donal O'Sullivan Tutu Henriques Peter Adeniyi, Wade Falana, Dean Wordsworth, Kirk Watts,
interesting debate.

Hi everyone...............there was a player at the back end of the seventies who played midfield, looked like our own version of Kevin Keegan and ran all over the park just like him too. Cannot remember his name though.
He was one hell of a playmaker.....................
Any ideas?

For me, it has to be Kirk Watts. Always pleased to see his name on the teamsheet. He probably wouldn't even get into today's team, but he was a ray of sunshine in some dark days. As his dad might say "Play to feet!" Other honourable mentions: Nic, Barry Moore, Sam, Harrison, and the marvellous Wade Falana. I still tap Wade's chest on the way downstairs, to invoke the spirit of Falana.

Kirk Watts makes it into my Legends 11, not convinnced he would get in a first 11 though ahead of the likes of McCleary et al though....

This thread has really got me thinking...
Have we ever had a better passer of a ball than Osbourn?
Where do people rate 'Ginge'in terms of talent? Legs had gone years ago, but reckon he would win sharpest footballing brain.
How about Blackman? - personally I though he was class.
Have i've ever seen a better centre midfield partnership than Moore and Adeniyi -Probably not.
Have I ever had more confidence than when the team of Walker, Corneile, Wood, O'Sullivan, Henriques, Duku, Adeniyi, Moore, Blackman, McDonnell and Watts took to the field? Team of legends there in my book.

Sure my old man would say Eric Nottage. I'm going for Capt Paul Edwards. Proper old School skipper. Up & down and led by example.

I think Peter Adeniyi is probably the best player I've seen play for Bromley. Tremendously skilful and at his very best he was truly outstanding. Oh and he scored THAT penalty too. Sam Wood probably a close second.
Favourite player ever is probably Wade Falana.

He was my fave of that time with Crooks. Read somewhere that Brown had a really bad illness at some point. Anyone know if he is ok now? Really hope so. Hugged him at Maidstone when we won the Kent Senior v Gravesend

I know Junior passed away in December 2001, hope Derek is ok. There was a charity match for him back in about '88 to raise money for his treatment, which I think was successful. Not heard anyhting since though.

From that era, does anyone remember a chap by the name of Macarthy? I think his first name was Paul. Another decent winger and dribbler of the ball.

This years team will have some guys that we will be talking about in 15 years time too ,but its a team effort ,someone asked me who our best player is & i honestly dont know ,we have a good goalkeeper,Swaine is a great captain in the Edwards,Duku mould ,Nichols is a key player,Dubois has been great again & the front two have done a great job .Dubois might be our best player but he might not be the most important .

Phil Emblem. Rock solid defender. But Junior has to be the top.

Phil Emblem great player. His brother Simon was Skipper for a team I played for, a very steady player as well. Still has to be Paul Edwards for me [still often seen down HL].

As this is only my second season following BFC my opinion doesn't count for very much... but... Fuseini (don't laugh) was the player that first impressed me, followed subsequently by Bradley and Ben Swallow.
Must be noted, however, that our current team will be spoken of in reverential tones in years to come.

Fuseini was a class act for us Capt. We certainly missed him when he left in March, only winning one more league game!
