agree that Fuseini was a fine player for us, but in terms of leading by example and never say die attitude (granted it has only been half a season thus far) our current skipper takes some beating....

Agreed... The problem with Fuseini, from what I've gathered anyway, is that his attitude and committment to BFC didn't always match his ability. As a skipper, RS is definitely far better. Fuseini was notorious for clique-building, and became what the sports journos describe as 'a disruptive influence in the dressing room'. On the other hand, Rob is all about team spirit... Unparalled in that regard at this level, perhaps.
Inspirational is another football cliche to throw at captains, but RS appears to possess it!

I always enjoyed watching Brian Gregory score for fun. Brain Frampton up there as well along side John Roles. Legends.

Not saying they're the best ever but my favourites have always seemed to be those with a bit of class but inconsistent. Not quite as bad as Mash and Ryan Hackett mind! John Bumstead (although that's more Chelsea connections!), shame his knees had gone by time he played for us. Also the pitch was nowhere near as good as now.
Grant Watts, Ricky Antoine. Pat Gordon was always one of my favs in the initial days of coming.
Later, Barry Moore and Peter Adeniyi. I remember when he signed for us how excited I was. Remember him ghosting in off the right flank for Lewes one Tues night and lashing one in the top corner vs us.
Woody of course has to be in there, Super Nic, Wade. Best, I think Ryan Hall has to win hands down on that though.
As for skippers, personally I'd rate Dooks above Fuseini.

Duku was a great captain in the promotion team but age caught up with him a bit the next season & he was a bit of a scapegoat when we conceded a goal by a minority of people ,i liked him a lot & he always had time for a chat .

Im young so I cant give a fair judgement, but the best players I have ever seen at Bromley are McCleary, Foderingham, Dunk and McDonell. I think Foderingham probably would be number 1 out of those four but its a close call. Incredible goalkeeper and is now one of the best in league one. Hes only 22 aswell, which for a keeper is extremely young. One of my personal favourites was Hakeem Araba. By no means the best player I have seen, but his presence and the way he chased down every loose pass and made defenders panic ,forcing them into a mistake is what made him so popular. He got a fair few goals just from chasing down backpasses, including our 3-0 win over Sutton where we scored 3 goals in 5 minutes. Will never forget that

Wes Foderingham is a great call, from all those I've seen, most likely to progress to much bigger and better things. Garath as our only Prem league representative must be up there as well

Surely, as a captain, there's only one Frankie Coles...

(We had him on loan from Crystal Palace for a month.)

former Bromley striker Jon Goodman played Premier League football for the old Wimbledon back in the 90's and got Ireland caps too.

No mention of Butch Dunn? Awesome CF. Loved Dave Waight (tricky winger) from that team/period too. Would think up there with all tricky wingers from over the years.

In my short time watching Bromley I can only comment on recent times , with the likes of Joe Welch and PJD, Albert Jarrett and Ali Fuseini
This season if we finish top then this squad will go down in history as the the best Bromley team ever. Now that will be something to talk about .....

Similarly having started Bromley in my Mid-teens and now being in my very early 20's I can only have account of recent Bromley teams. You can never underestimate the difference and influence a safe pair of hands between the sticks makes. Having seen a number of keepers pass through Hayes lane Wes Foderingham for me was the best, however Joe does deserve very high praise and has got to be one of the best goalkeepers around at conference north/south/premier level. Other quality players for me include the usually suspect in the like of Dunk, Hall, PJD, Fuseini, McCleary, McDonnell. For me to become a great player the most important thing you can do is show a never give up attitude on the pitch. Rightly so many players should be remembered for their skill, vision, goalscoring records ect. But to become a great player of a club you must win the hearts of the fans, by how having a die for the cause and passion for badge mentality. I agree with rapper above, this squad has the potential to go down as the best Bromley team, and I can only hope they do.

Had a little look through a few old posts on this forum considering it will be closing soon, and ive re-discovered this one.
Best Bromley player ive seen is probably Ryan Hall. Obviously, McCleary, Wood, Dunk, etc all mentioned...
But not necesarily the best player ive seen but my favourites? Super Wes Foderigham. Absolute wall. Along with Hakeem Araba. I dont think theres any person in the World who would pick a fight with him!
Ive got a soft spot for Marlon Patterson. Hes a local lad and I still see him walking around Bromley every now and again. Another reason is because he gave me his boot after the London Senior Cup Final a few years ago. To this day it is still proudly displayed in my room.
Ive probably already written too much but while ive started I will always love Warren McBean and the 2 Gareth Williams (the striker and the goalkeeper). I remember the song 'Theres only 2 Gareth Williams' that was occasionaly sung!
Tutu Henriques. What a man.
Salifou Ibrahima. Perhaps not the most gifted, but I always felt he was underrated.
I could go on all day, but that enough for now...
Ole ole ole ole Bromley Bromley

It would be nice if they could get a decent sized group of our alumni to come out onto the pitch at half time to give us old boys chance to show our appreciation.

Which players have made the most appearances? Loyalty and longevity have a place for me in the equation. Danny, Jack and PJD are in the mix for me

Can't believe reading back through all these, Danny Waldren has not got a mention. He has been immense ever since he joined us what 3 seasons ago now. Best memory so far was him lifting the London Senior Cup. So in roughly 10 years of watching Bromley I would have to put him up there, along with the likes of Wazza McBean, Nic McDonnell, Harrison Dunk, Wes Foderingham & Ryan Hall as some of the best players I have seen in a Bromley shirt. Tips for the future from what I have seen so far could be Louis Dennis & Anthony Cook (two amazing wingers who's skill & pace is a joy to watch at times)

Fully agree, mate... But AP just mentioned him!
Waldren is (IMHO) a bona fide Bromley legend.

Watching for approx last 10 years. IMHO here go's,
Best 3 Players ability wise: Simon Osborne (way out in front) - Gareth McLeary - Joe Anderson (special mention to Sam Wood)
Best 3 Legends: Nic McDonnell - Tutu Henriques(what a lovely fella) - Andy Walker (again special mention to Sam Wood)

I've been watching for bout the same timespan as you and can't argue with any of that Bromhead - simon Osborn was a class act, you could tell he'd played at a high level, always made time on the ball for himself, good to see him down the Lane watching these days. Interesting to read the Jerome Sobers piece in TFT, he was always a favourite of mine, clearly never the most skilful player we've had but a solid defender, "you've been Soberised" I remember a wag shouting once after a particularly solid tackle.
And finally in a poetic symmetry with the Ravens big game on Saturday, Garath McCleary will hopefully be on the pitch at Wembley, another quality player and a really nice geezer too.

While reading The Bromley Boy's to my son and given his love for the club that he has developed, like alot of boy's his age all he wants to talk about is football.Given the conversations that we have been having lately about clubs, players grounds, the conversation got round to best ever players.Given that alot of people on here have seen many players over the years and far more than me,your choices would have to be going further back back have a feeling that it will create some debate amongst us all.My choice in the time i have been going is either Mcleary or Nic Mcdonnell.

Has anyone mentioned Dean Wordsworth yet? He was a bit special. My memory is a bit sketchy but early nineties I think.
