Good idea for a poll, but is it that simple?! I’ve been coming 25 years, & to proportionally more matches since Goldberg came in than for a long time. There was a period when I only attended the local derbies because I just wasn’t being entertained by the what I saw, but things have come a long way under jerry. My wife comes to a lot of games now too, whereas under the likes of Garland & even George Wakeling, she’d go to Xmas games & that was about it. Of course a ground out 1-0 win is gonna pull in more fans to the next game than losing playing good football – I’ve watched a few games this year where we played lovely passing football but lacked the killer final ball, & lost to about the only attacking move the opposition made all game. It’ll be interesting to see how Braintree do next year as I didn’t see any talent in their team. If you gave me a choice of watching Bromley play like Braintree (with the success), it would be the current style every time. I’m all for having one Moore/Coles style player in the middle, one huge lumbering centre back, & one player who perhaps falls over a bit easy, but not a whole team of them. I’m glad we don’t have to watch players like Richard Butler now – at the Staines away match one of their fans said he can’t stand watching his antics either. The teams I liked against us were Chelmsford & Dover in particular, they did play some good football, but with more intent. Winning a free kick should benefit you, but we play a quick ball sideways & half the time go backwards, putting the defence under pressure to hoof it quick. I noticed a good example Monday, Dartford were about to take a quick one, but their guy had a quick look, realised it wasn’t going to benefit them, so paused & delivered a good attacking free kick instead. The key maybe is to know when to play pretty & when to play tough. Hindsight is fantastic, but the home Chelmsford game was maybe a game to pick height & play ugly, but we waited til 3-0 to do that

I vote ugly winner quite simply because if you're winning, everyone is happy! Pretty football is fine, but only in the opposition's half!

Difficut to compare Bromey with Arsenal i know, but having been a season ticket holder under George Graham and then Wenger, i would at this point go for 1-0 to the arsenal and the back four putting their arms up every 2 minutes for offside and coming away with 3 points all day long, and the same applies to Bromley, while some of the football has been nice to watch, we lost/drew games that we should have won with a bit more grit and less pretty across the back four/midfield passing I agree with bt about Butler falling over like Ronaldo but i would come home from Hayes Lane with a bigger smile on my face if we win ugly than lose beaufifully !
