Interview with Vinsey from the Surrey Comet. I for one hope that Kingstonian miss out and we get the opportunity to sign him up again for next season:-
Vines desperate for Kingstonian to make play-offs
Nobody will be more disconsolate than Paul Vines if Kingstonian fail to make the Ryman Premier play-off spots.
The striker has scored eight goals since arriving from Bromley in January and helped Ks to five games without defeat as they look to gatecrash the top five.
Despite their good run though, they are still a place outside and could miss out altogether even if they win in Kent, a disappointment Vines is adamant he wants to avoid.
"I am really desperate for success," he said.
"It is a big deal for me as I started the season at Bromley in Blue Square South but it didn't work out and there will be question marks over my capabilities.
"I have come to Kingstonian and been made to feel extremely welcome.
"They are great people and I have worked hard to get them in a position where they have a chance.
"I will be gutted if we don't get over the finish line.
"All we can do now is make sure everybody does their jobs at Margate, we put in a performance, get the three points and hope for the best.
"Alan Dowson said he thought five wins from the last seven would be good enough and you wouldn't have argued with that but it has been crazy the last month.
"People drop points and you think you are back in but then they pick up another result and it is all change again."
Vines scored a double against former club Tooting & Mitcham, where he spent four years until last summer, in a 4-2 win on Monday and admitted he had to put his emotions aside and concentrate on the job in hand.
"It was one of them ones where it was a very important three points for us and we needed a big performance," he said.
"For me it was nice to play against them as I had a good time down there and always get a good reception from their fans.
"But it was nice to score the goals as it was important for us to still get in the play-offs.
"I tried not to celebrate them though as although I was happy to score I did not want to give it too mush as they are a club close to my heart."
