Bromley 4 Dartford 1 – BSS – 22/04/2011 – In what was a dress rehearsal for May Day’s Kent Senior Cup Final Bromley notched an impressive win over their local rivals in front on a good crowd at Hayes Lane on Good Friday. Dartford started well and dominated possession, but it was the home side who created the better chances on breaks from defence. Harding missed a good opportunity from a McKenzie flick on before The Ravens took the lead on 19mins when Nmanani headed home a Harding cross. McKenzie was denied by Young before Bromley made it 2-0 on 21mins when Sobers volleyed home a cross from fellow centre back Harwood. Burns hit the post for the visitors as they rallied and they pulled it back to 2-1 on 31mins when Sherringham tucked away a penalty after Noble went down theatrically in the box. Soon after Sherringham hit the bar and Bradbrook fired wide, but Bromley held on to the lead going into the break . The second half saw Dartford again have more of the ball, but Bromley make the better chances. McBean forced a save from Young before he set up McKenzie to make it 3-1 on 56mins who finished smartly from a tight angle. McBean grabbed the fourth on 73mins when he created some space on the edge of the box and curled the ball past Young to break his goal drought dating back to November. McBean then fired over and McKenzie was denied by Young as The Ravens comfortably saw out the game. Hayden Bird will be hoping that his side can reproduce a performance like this 9days time.
Quote for the game, 'We'll need a strong Referee in the final.' - Martin.
Bromley: Lovelock, Graves, Dunk, Harwood, Nmnani, Sobers, Harding, Daly, Henriques, McBean, McKenzie. Subs: England, Fray, Udoji, Ide, Finn.

This was probably our best performance since early season.
Credit to the players in (hopefully) laying down a psychological marker ahead of the cup final. What was interesting for me today is that Dunk didnt have an influential game but we were still able to attack with flair and create chances. The Midfield 3 are as settled as the midfield have been at any stage this season, Tutu and Daly offer a solid base which allows harding to get forward and create further forward.
However, further to the Staines match (last week) Warren again impressed me, today was the Warren we all know and im sure he would say the same. He played with freedom and that contributed to his creativity going forward and ultimately the deserved goal.
However lets not forget that we did let Dartford back in the game and we had some shaky moments amongst the back 3 particularly from the Dartford goal through to half time. That is an area to address (albeit the back 3 have been relatively solid in games).
All in all a top days entertainment, and more positive signs as we come to seasons end.

Thoroughly impressive and solid performance and agree one of the best I've seen for a while. Sobers, Harwood and Nmnani look very comfortable as a back three, and the system seems to suit the players. Add in the weather today and all in all a great result and a great day out

After yesterday's results we have guaranteed ourselves a top half finish and (unless things go very wrong in the last 2 games) we should almost certainly be in the top 10. I'll make 2 more requests for the season: 1) A point on Monday to guarantee a top 10 finish and scupper Chelmsford's promotion hopes 2) Lets bring the Kent Cup home!

Just saw highlights looked like fun (shame i had to work ) ,i cant recall Dartford gettin a result at our place in previous games (Cup,Trophy,Kent) so its a shame we dont have home advantage in the Final.Nice to see a decent crowd at the Lane & we actually do well. Sobers goal was a bit special & Wazza took his goal well too.

the perfect scenario - great weather, a fine performance and another fine edition of TFT to be had (nice one Col)... even the music through the PA was interesting : The first Fratellis album which has been played obsessively thoughout the season has clearly been worn out and been replaced with Kool and the Gang greatest hits. Eclectic ain't the word.
Finally just like to say well done to Jerome for (another ) great performance - he has my vote for player of the yr, and great goal yesterday too, top bloke.

what a fantastic afternoon's entertainment. Firstly, top marks to whoever decided to play the game on good friday rather than today. the weather was a bonus & probably brought a few more out, but great to see a large crowd again.
Credit to the Dartford fans too for coming in large & friendly numbers & actually waking up the Bromley fans behind the goal to sing a few chants - nice having a proper atmosphere again.
Regarding the match, i would have thought that the Bird out comments can now be put to bed? Perfectly ok if anyone disagrees, this is an unofficial forum after all, but I'm liking what I'm seeing recently & surely he's done enough to be allowed to build a team over the summer?. I'm really not bothered about the Braintree game, that wasn't a football match, & it's a shame that they are going up ahead of Chelmsford & Dover, but other than that, the change of shape has made us look almost like the team that started the season, really only noticing Foderingham missing to keep out the goals, & Vines winning the high balls.
Thought Lovelock looked a little shaky yesterday, but he wasn't helped by a few awkward back passes. he looked shaky when he joined last time & in a couple of games settled down nicely, & obviously we're playing a different formation to when he was here before, so hopefully if Holloway is out long term, he'll have settled in fine come the final in 3 games time. Still couldn't believe it at halftime that we'd scored 2 goals & yet again the strikers had failed to find the net, but as with recent games, both strikers were playing well & who cares where the goals come from as long as they're going on. But equally, that might have been McKenzie's last game for the club bearing in mind his suspension, so great to go out with a goal, & maybe play himself into the squad for next season. McBean was playing really well too even before his superb finish. Ok so he never challenged for any high balls all game, but where he stands out is when the ball is played at him. Whereas most players at this level struggle to trap it & often give it away again, McBean is superb at this, trapping it perfectly & immediately twisting & turning.
now the team are playing with confidence again, I wouldn't mind seeing what Finn can do in Harding's position. he played his way out of the team with Mcbean a month or so ago, but maybe give Harry a rest for one of the matches before the final & see what Finn can do?

Spoke to Craig on Friday and very glad to say he only has bruised ribs and was simply being rested for the KSC Final, who know's he may even be back before, so no long term injury at all
