Staines Town 0 Bromley 2 – BSS – 16/04/2011 – Bromley recorded an impressive win away in Middlesex with a display of solid defending and smart finishing which kept them still with a chance of their highest league finish since promotion. The Ravens got off to the perfect start when Harry Harding was played in after good work from Charlie Ide & Warren McBean for the youngster who finished smartly. Staines went on to dominate possession, but cerate very little and it was Bromley who had the best chances late in the half with Harding forcing a save from Louis Wells and McBean hitting the post with a header. Staines once again had the best of the possession in the second half Marc Charles-Smith had an effort cleared off the line by Liam Harwood and he was thwarted once again by Craig Holloway who saved bravely at his feet. After Bromley had held out after a series of corners, they put the game beyond doubt on 67mins when McBean combined with Harrison Dunk who placed the ball past Wells from a tight angle to make it 2-0. Late on Alex Duffy and Charles-Smith went close, but The Ravens held out and secured an impressive victory.
Quote for the game, 'I thought we were meant to be crap?' - Timmy.
Bromley: Holloway, Graves, Dunk, Henriques, Nnmani, Harwood, Harding, Finn, Daly, McBean, Ide. Subs: England, Jones, Fray, England.

Enjoyed today a lot, compact and threatening on the counter. Warren played like his old self and this made us far more effective going forward. I've run out of superlatives for Dunk but his run and finish for the goal was very good.

Yet another game where our strikers fail to find the net, but who cares when they play as well as that & create the chances for others. Despite missing Sobers, our first half performance was as good as any of those first 7 wins at the start of the season. Really could have been 3-0 up by half time & totally controlled the game. Staines were really poor though, but thankfully we didn't have to watch Richard Butler falling over all game.
I thought McBean was shading it for our best player at half time, though by the end I thought Harding was comfortably our best player. Not that anyone didn't play well, but Harding looks so much better when it's not just Daly alongside him. Extra support for Daly in the middle allows Harding more freedom to roam, & he really does cover a lot of ground, & always wants the ball, just needs to watch some of his attempts to win a foul. Graves looks more like the player he was early season, & (sadly for us in some ways) Dunk is looking like he belongs a league or 2 higher again, whereas Dec/Jan time he looked nothing special in a the 442 formation particularly after Dolby went.
But as above, really enjoyed today, loads of effort & loads of skill & good football played, just need to start getting a few more fans back at Hayes Lane & making some noise again
