Just found out there are engineering works on all stations out of East London over the entire Easter Weekend. There are no trains to Chelmsford from either Liverpool Street or Fenchurch Street, which means a tube journey to Newbury Park, bus 
connection to Ingatestone, then a 5 minute train ride to Chelmsford.
The only option seems to drive which, on a bank holiday Monday past the Bluewater and Lakeside exits, plus the usual delights of the M25, I won't be doing.
