Cray Wands 2 Bromley 3 – Kent Senior Cup Semi Final – 12/04/2011 –
Bromley won out in the game between the two sides who play at Hayes Lane and secured a final place against Dartford in a close fought encounter on Tuesday night.
The game got off to an even start with both sides looking to attack, Bromley’s main threat was Harrison Dunk charging down the left while Cray looked strong at set pieces with John Guest heading just over. It was The Wands who took the lead on 23mins when a low cross was converted by Leigh Bremner and soon after the same man had a goal ruled out for offside. Hayden Bird brought on Jerome Sobers moving Tutu Henriques into midfield and The Ravens battled back. Henriques forced a save out of Dave King before Charlie Ide set up Dunk for the equaliser on 34mins with a powerful finish from just inside the box. Guest was denied by Craig Holloway as Cray pushed on, but crucially it was Bromley who took the lead on 45mins when a corner was headed goalwards by Liam Harwood and former Bromley man Allan McLeod turned the ball into his own net to put The Ravens 2-1 up at the break.
Bromley started the second half brightly with Harwood, Ide and Dunk all going close before the made it 3-1 on 58mins when a Wes Daly free kick was parried by King into Sobers path and he headed the rebound home. Harry Harrding & Dunk both went close soon after before Cray battled back into things when Ross Lover scored with a sweet free kick on 70mins. Guest went close again as the home side pressed for an equaliser, but Bromley held out and created two good chances on the break with Dunk being denied by King and Daly having his effort cleared off the line by Lover. Bromley just about deserved the win over the piece and showed some good character against a typically hard working motivated Cray Wands side.
