Think they did suggest news on Tuesday but this was before they announce the two signings from Newport so assume this was brought forward!

Just before the lights go out. Are we going to sign any forwards! If we don't I fully expect a near on full blown goal drought. To be Continued.

Unless we are going to buck the trend of the way teams play up in the Premier, then we need a big horrible centre forward or we could get bullied out of games. It would be naïve to think we can pass our way to safety up there.

Agree fully with the above - I do believe we have plenty of people who can stick it in the net but we need someone a bit more 'old school' as Col describes who can be a foil for the other attacking players and hopefully notch 10 goals or so themselves. In the play off final (North) the other week, Chorley had this exact player called James Dean who bullied the Guiseley defenders and was very difficult to play against. We could do with someone like that. If money were no object I'd be trying to lure John Parkin down from Forest Green.

If the previous owners gave some players deals until the end of next season, then we may be a little restricted as to what can be done. But with the big horrible centre forward role, wouldn't we be hoping Ben May to stay clear of injuries to do this?

Ben May is a very good centre forward. However, I feel we could do with another centre forward as cover. I also think we could do with more signings in midfield in particular to improve squad depth.

My personal opinion is that we don't have a striker on our payroll at present that can provide what's required next season. Could be that there's just not the funds available to ship in what's needed. If that's the case I stand by a striker goal drought if we expect to get goals with what we presently have. I hope I'm wrong but sentiment plays no part in this business.

I'm going to say that I believe if Slabber, May & Birchall play to anywhere near their past form (albeit we haven't seen from the latter as yet) then they all should be more than capable of doing a job in the National League, when all have played at a much higher level in the past. Aided by we assume to be Bradley Goldberg after being released by Dagenham & Redbridge there is plenty of goals in them. With Cookie, Louis Dennis & hopefully a fully fit PJD this season chipping in, we should hopefully give a good account of ourselves. Therefore don't see any further strike options joining on top of the 3 soon to be 4 I'm sure we already have. I can only really see a left back cover option & a goalkeeper to warm the bench as understudy to Julian coming in.. which will bring us up to a squad of 20.
