I finally persuaded my Ginger mate (who shall remain anonymous)to come down The Lane yesterday as it was a top game in store.
He also brought along his 2 redheaded sons (4 & 9yrs) and we took our place behind the far dugouts.
To my complete horror the arrogant Boreham Wood keeper & the referee were also brandishing this freak of nature follicle condition and I could see this was going to end in tears.
As anticipated the left back was taking abuse, as was the ref for certain decisions.
'You ginger mug' - 'ginger twat' - and then the inevitable ' you no good ginger C***', this prompted my now ex mate to pick his 4yr old up and head for the gates.
Did anyone else with this life ruining affliction notice any anti redhead feeling at the match yesterday or just my mate Toby..?

The referee didn't have ginger hair although to be honest his decision making was so perplexing at times that you could have spent the afternoon mocking his refereeing and not getting bored. Come to think of it, I did. I was still laughing at him sending off the photographer when i woke up this morning.
It's a shame your mate's young kids heard things like that, I don't blame him for taking them away from that area although I don't think there was any 'anti-redhead feeling' at the game, any more than there's any prejudice towards the obese on the frequent occasions when people take to calling the official a 'fat bastard'.

I must say it's an honour to be corrected by you Will, it must have been their keeper then, I did have 2 halves of Hurlimans in the Ravens before kick off...

Ah?? Am I missing something here lol? left back was bald, goalie was ginger, ref was black hair!
Terrible first half performance - waldren deep lying centre forward with slabber/birchall on bench - only MG could think that one up. Better 2nd half but overall pretty poor standard/game for two teams perched at top. Basingstoke and Gosport definetly better sides than boring wood. Great crowd.

It is the risk you take when you eat too many cheesy wotsits when pregnant but I for one think that it's a rather attractive feature. I'm not sure what the connection on the pitch was, I can't remember seeing a player that had red hair and the referee was more at the opposite end of the spectrum. The referee didn't have the best of games for sure but I thought he handled things pretty well and it's possible that we benefitted the most from some of his mistakes. The funniest thing was the way the photographer wouldn't move when Borethem were 2-1 down and he was happy to waste time, good on him. Although our defence looked a little shaky at times, I though Jack had a great game and Danny's run down the left, the look up and the perfect cross was quality, if it had ended in a goal it would have been one to remember. More of the same please.

I must say it's an honour to be corrected by you Will, it must have been their keeper then, I did have 2 halves of Hurlimans in the Ravens before kick off... Those Hurlimans must have been spiked with lysergic acid, man... The ref was very clearly of Asian extraction, with dark hair. Vic - Fully agree re: Waldren's first-half run and cross. It should have been converted by Brad, who had a poor first 45 by his standards. Made up for it in style though, as the history books will record.

The keeper displayed stereotype busting calm.
Good for him... and good for us

Rusty as he is nicknamed at BW by his teammates is a very good keeper and reacts well to the abuse he takes from opposition fans. He still turned round at the end of the game and applauded our supporters behind his goal despite his obvious disappointment at losing. Top man!

Could not agree more, good keeper and top bloke. Would hope we are a little more tolerant of said duracells, was it not just 4 short seasons ago we still had Mr G Williams aka Ginge / The Ginger Ninja within our ranks?
