Bromley 5 Farnborough 0 – VCS – 17/03/2015
A brutal eight minute spell just after the hour mark from Bromley saw them despatch struggling Farnborough and extend their lead at the top of Conference South at Hayes Lane on Tuesday night.
The Ravens started the game on top with Ali Fuseini volleying just wide and Rob Swaine heading wide from a corner. As Farnborough settled into the game they also created chances with former Bromley striker Jordan Robertson having a shot deflected wide and Jamie Hand also just off target. After a quiet spell Bromley again started to dominate Moses Ademola curled an effort from 20yards out just over the bar, Jamie Slabber had a header saved by Magnas Norman after good work by Ugo Udoji and it was the full back who set up the goal that finally broke the deadlock on 41minutes. Udoji sent a long ball up to the edge of the box, which Ademola controlled with his back to goal before swiftly turning and coolly sliding the ball home with the visitors defence caught totally flat footed. Late in the half another former Bromley player Harry Grant forced a fantastic save from Alan Julian palming away his powerful drive to preserve Bromley’s lead going into the break .
Farnborough started the second half on top, Grant headed just wide and they had a long spell of possession, but on their first real attack Bromley made it 2-0 right on the hour. Louis Dennis sparked into life down the left and was brought down on the bye line just before he cut into the box. The resulting free kick was headed towards goal by Slabber and nodded over the line by Jack Holland who rose high above the visiting defence. Bradley Goldberg fired wide when well placed soon after, but it was a brief reprieve for Farnborough as an Udoji free kick was flicked on by Ademola for Slabber to head home at the far post on 66minutes. Two minutes later it was 4-0 as Slabber latched on to a Reece Prestedge ball and drove the ball home past Norman from ten yards. Farnborough recovered enough for Stephane Ngamvoulou to hit the post, but it was The Ravens who scored the final goal on 85minutes when Goldberg latched on to a through ball, held off Darryl Siaw and took the ball round Norman to slot the it into the net to put the seal on an impressive win for the league leaders.
Bromley now entertain bottom placed Staines Town on Saturday hoping to maintain their advantage at the top and take a step closer to Conference Premier football for the first time in their history.
Quote for the game, ' I still can't let myself beleive it will happen.'
