Having just read through the Any particular players from the start, and now we know the basics of our squad, who has gone where so far,who has signed so far, what we know about the club financially to a point, does anyone have any ideas as to some uncut gems from either this levels reserves or lower down? I think that the general opinion amongst us all is that Hamici is not going to do it at this level. Having come into non league late on,i can't pass judgement on to many players so would be interested as to what others think.Given how some of the players who were on contract last year performed and they were the so called better options,am wondering who you would all go for.People talk about Gillman,Corneille, but they were all before my time of being into non league as i am now. Are there any un-earthed gems anywhere?

I thought Corneille was an unsung hero a few years back. Sam wood got the plaudits on the left but Corneille was superb at right wing back. I wasn't as impressed before he left though, seemed to struggle a little at BSS playing right side of a back 4. No one can question his commitment to winning a game though, very much a die for the cause player.
You would have seen rob gilman against is last season for Dover.
If anyone can spot an uncut gem then it's Mark Goldberg. Whether you like his management style or not, I don't think many could argue with some of the players he's brought in, McCleary probably the best of the signings

Corneille... Runs around a lot, shows passion, pumps the ball forward... Great player, int he!!! Not even near Sam Wood or even Harrison Dunk's class...

I agree with you that he isn't/wasn't anywhere near Sam's ability, I was just trying to describe him to Dazza & I think my description is fair. Unless my mind is deceiving me, don't forget that 1st season Corneille joined, we were effectively a level lower, & I really do feel that Corneille contributed a lot that season, even though Sammy got the gold stars.
I know they're not similar players, but I'd rather have had Corneille than Finn for the last 5 months of last season, despite the fact that Finn is technically a class above. Though I suppose you could argue the Finn issue is more management related as a player doesn't suddenly become rubbish & disinterested overnight for no reason. It's a shame perhaps that we couldn't have sent him on loan rather than Vines, as ide wasn't a patch on him as a replacement

Shame about Corneille, but still looking with a glass-half full mentality at coming season, if only because - as bt correctly points out - MG is a manger who sure has an eye for a decent uncut gem of a player. I'm sure he has his faults but one can't deny his scouting ability
