Given that our first pre season game is on saturday and we all know that MG is putting a squad together, have all seen the fixture list, know the changes that have been made and will continue to be made at the club over the coming season and a good few after, can we all be positive on here however things go,be positive on the terraces and make some noise, get behind the team irrespective of how good or bad things are going during the campaign and stay realistic.I think over the last season there has been so much negativity on management and players and the terraces that this along with the new management, chairman and ideas the club have, need to be carried on by us,the loyal supporters.Let's be positive and encourage the team from start to finish.

The club have been very up front about their aims this season and that we are basically going to be in a fight agsinst the drop. Time to rally round as you say, but that will as always depend on the team playing their part and giving 100% on the pitch.

Sometimes when it's backs against the wall and you have a set of players who really give it their all - as col says - then nothing's impossible. There were times last season when the so-called better players looked like they were going thru the motions. I'm pleased MG is back - he was manager when I first started coming to HL a few years back and while he's had his ups and downs, he sure can spot a decent player so, as the saying goes, keep the faith.

It does seem a shame that after a pretty good season, the club are downplaying everything & appearing to have lowered their goals. However, there's obviously been changes over the summer & hopefully we'll benefit in the medium term. And another thing to consider is that a high number of teams seem to be throwing the kitchen sink at promotion. Wonder what will happen come Xmas when a few of them are already out of it? I can see a few wage bills needing to be slashed in a hurry as fairweather fans lose interest & bills mount up, & this could play into our hands a little. But of course, if we don't have a team with enough quality to pick up points from day one, we'll be too late to benefit.
I went this morning to pick up my season ticket. Pitch looked fantastic, facilities had all been painted, let's hope by the time the opening game comes along that we've got a team to match. A few teams have proved you don't necessarily need tons of skill at this level, but you do need workrate & a team plan. Oh & for the admitedly very small minority on the old board who were critical of Jerry, he was there working at 9.00 when I turned up. Of course, he could achieve promotion quite easily I'd have thought, simply by selling the site & renting back the stadium - wouldn't be the first team to do this to free up money, but a few years down the line when the money's run out & the rent still has to be paid......
