So i guess MG is back, no real complaints with that always felt it was inevitable.
Reading between the lines the new chairman along with others coming in is looking to make Bromley a community club and make it a viable sustainable club. The principle is fine and I agree with it, it is however a case of making sure we can secure the funding to make us build these things like extending the stand.
What i do like about the announcement is the recognition that we wont be splurging money to come 11th, but the policy of using young players is risky but sound if we find good enough ones.
Can I urge all fans to now apply commonsense next season instead of the over-hyped irrational nonsense from last season. The plan is obviously to try and stay up next season with a young competitive team...adjust your radars accordingly.

as long as there is a reasonable balance then I totally agree. I don't want my season ticket money to go to paying a load of kids who are clearly not ready for BSS to turn out every week. However on the opposite end to that is what happened soon after Jerry took over & we were a division or 2 lower. We had a biggish budget for that league & I can remember a few players coming in who were conference level & everything looked like we'd walk it. But some of those players didn't seem to care beyond picking up their wages which were obviously pretty decent without a win bonus. The situation was only resolved when Jerry brought back George Wakeling who sorted things out, & then MG came in & on the whole, brought in experienced players who did want to play for the club (Osborne being a prime example) as well as giving a few youngsters like Dolby a chance.
But a core of established players with a few of the best academy players is perfectly ok in my book & preferable than some other clubs methods recently. There's no point in us having an academy if there's little or no chance of getting any 1st team action. I thought a couple of the guys last year didn't look out of place & was a touch disappointed we brought in players like England, who IMO is a Ryman level player but a worker, ahead of giving one a chance. fair enough if HB had the budget for BSS standard players, but I can't see that he did, so with safety secured, a youth focus might have been better. I'm not bothered about the reserves going - we've enough local clubs at a lower level to us that we can loan promising players out of have them on dual contract.
There are 3-4 clubs who should be down the bottom of the league & we're not one of them.

Totally agree bt, you would hope it would be the best of the promising youth and hardworking BSS types (like Tutu) with a sprinkling of quality (Goldberg has contacts and you would imagine he can raid palace reserves for someone or other). Might even be able to convince Harry Harding to spend time with us. A couple of seasons back we played half the season with the kids and came 13th (I found that season quite enjoyable)

Welcome back MG! If anyone can assemble a good squad on a tight budget, he can. Looking forward to another exciting (and realistic) season for BFC.
The importance of an 11 aside pitch for training can't be understated.

Back to what we know on the management side and positive stuff off the field. I'm not a fan of the Murray Jones 'everybody back for a corner' tactics, but we've always done ok with MG in charge I guess. Eleventh will feel like success this season and hopefully we will see the progress being made around the club at Hayes Lane keeping it positive.

I am glad MG is back i like his style of football on the whole ,i would have been a bit more excited if we had brought in a assistant with league experience ,someone vocal on the sidelines but you cant have everything . I like the idea of bringing Academy players through & having a young squad ,hope we can get some local players from Millwall,Palace etc but we still need a few experienced characters to guide them. Remember a few years back Jerry saying long term he wanted a team of local players so its no suprise ,just hope we have enough in the pot come march if we are struggling to bring a couple of players in because even though going up is not a option yet we dont want to go down. I am glad there isnt any negative comments on here yet ,after so long waiting for news i just feel happy that things are moving AT Last .Look forward to more news in the next couple of weeks.

Let's not forget that during MG's sabbatical he's spent a lot of time watching his son Bradley in Charlton's academy. He and Jerry are also mates with Dougie F at Palace so I am sure there is access to loanees and other youngsters who haven't quite made it at the professional level at both clubs.

Absolutely delighted to see Goldberg return. In the context of Bromley history for the last 50 years +, it has been as good as it could reasonably get under him. I felt we were nailed on for the drop next season despite a few late wins last year but now I think that with the right manager in place I have optimism again. Fantastic appointment. Excited for the new campaign.
