Well we wanted some news!! Thoughts Ladies & Gents? www.bromleyfc.net/Bromley Football Club has accepted the resignation of Manager, Hayden Bird. Following a meeting with Club Owner, Jerry Dolke, the former Carshalton Athletic boss has decided to step down from his on the field role with immediate effect. Hayden joined Bromley as part of Mark Goldberg’s management team in January 2010 before taking on the mantle of manager himself following Mark’s departure a year later. Everyone at the Club would like to thank Hayden for his energy and enthusiasm in both the dugout and dressing room over the last 18 months. The board are currently in discussions with a couple of parties interested in investing in the Club and will therefore not be making an immediate decision upon Hayden’s replacement

Doesn't make it clear if he keeps his off the field role, which he seemed to be doing pretty well at.

He does seem good at the off the field side of things. I am intrigued as to the couple of interested parties !?

Not much we can say really is there? Other than thanks to HB for the effort he put in - regardless of what happened around November time, we had a fantastic start to the season thanks to HB & MG & only a few places short of our highest finish since the mid 80's I think. The performance in the KSC Final was a real shame, but hey, at least we got there.
No idea on the the investor comments - could be MG again? Jerry has been on record previously suggesting he'd like someone else to come in & help push the club a bit further than he can.
Only concern is the longer it takes, the higher the chances of players being snapped up by other clubs - I'm thinking specifically of some of the youngsters released by local league clubs, But I'm sure Jerry knows this, he's no fool who knows nothing about football & just in it as a plaything for his money.

I have decided to adopt a wait and see approach to all this. As I've stated on fbook whatever is going on decisions will need to be made relatively quickly, as pre season starts sooner than we think.

He's made the right decision, but now comes a massive decision for the club. Potential new investrors and a new manager, it's never dull at Hayes Lane!

You'd imagine MG will be back in some capacity...

Agree that MG will probably be involved ,think we need to have a manager in place by July so he can build a squad. Plenty happening Chelmsford signing Ibe from Farnbrough who got the Hayes & Yeading manager, also Pooley & Ginge released by Ebbsfleet .

I too think MG will have an involement. but also agree time is against us. Most if not all the other clubs have announced contracted players for next season. But in Jerry i trust.

I believe Hayden will still be working behind the scenes, just that a new manager will be in place some time in the future

i just hope we dont end up doing a Charlton ,ie do pretty well but the expectation levels go up too much & a slide starts ,Goldberg playing the role of Curbishley never getting the credit he deserved for some of the best football & top players we have had in years . Lots of talk of a relegation fight next season which is hard to disagree with ,unless things change quickly with some positive news .

Can't say i'm yo surprised by this though i was getting a bit worried he would still be manager given how close we are to pre season training.Investors sounds interesting i have to say.The one thing i don't want is any investors to come in and Jerry to walk away.Given how everything went last year,as much as he loves the club, you could understand why he could say "i've done all i can and it's time for someone else to take it on further"Any new investor has to have Jerry still in charge.Manager has also got to be sorted lively to not only sort our team out but also get some new blood in and have a look at some of the academy kids from last year who are worth a punt.

I think we need to be a bit realistic with our aims & ambitions. Based on crowd size & chairman £input, I'd be more than happy with another midtable finish with some decent football thrown in for good measure. But great that Jerry is still looking at extra investment into the club. I just wish Forest would sell McCleary!
I noticed the other day the statement on Farnborough's website that they are going fulltime next season as well as a few other clubs in BSS. That doesn't necessarily guarantee anything as without a big increase in budget, it might just mean that they can afford a few youngsters full time for the same wage as a top non-league p/timer. But I guess it gives the coaching staff a hell of a lot more time to work on tactics & set plays & so on & does offer a bit more to a youngster dropping out of a league club rather than having to find work to supplement a p/time wage.

My worry is the timing, we could of done with this announcemet weeks ago. Every day other sides are announcing their contracted players but no player is going to commit to us if they dont know who they are going to be playing under. Jerry will always do what is right for our club so must be working quite franticallly to get something in place. Pre-season is approaching!

The Bromley Times is saying it'll be either Mark Goldberg back again or Tim O'Shea & Neil Smith the former Croydon Ath & Lewes management team. I think I'd opt for the second rather than going back again to a manager for the third time Newcastle Utd style. Unless it was George Wakeling of course! ;D

from what I've heard ............. (and no confirmation but fairly safe knowledge)...
Departing the scene so far : Barry Moore, Craig Holloway, Wes Daly, Tony Finn, Warren McBean. Liam Harwood had signed prior to HB resignation (and was given the captaincy) but guess this may change.
Personally, as much as MG frustrated me with his dug out silence and bizarre substitutions, i'd be happy to see him back as in general, his teams play good football. I dont expect (nor want) promotion, just some good value and effort for my £10/£12.
That said, if the duo of O'Shea/Smith come in, they have plenty of contacts so shouldnt be too shoddy. Either way, with a reduced budget, its all about survival!

I would be happy to hve MG back, equally happy with O'Shea and a fresh start.
On the players front, if those departed are confirmed than i have no probs with that at all, or Harwood as captain.

if Holloway Dunk Finn & McBean have gone, we've lost the real quality players in the team & won't be easy to replace that, though the argument might be a team of strong committed players outweighs quality players not playing for the team. And we'll have freed up a lot of the budget to start again with. Would be happy to see Butler between the sticks if Foderingham is out of the question, & I'm very pleased Harwood is being retained, he stood out towards the end of last season.
Not fussed either way on the management, MG has done a great job in the past, & O'shea & Smith would be an interesting choice - Smith was briefly the number 2 a couple of years ago IIRC, though can't remember who was the manager - Osborn perhaps? Or am i going mad, i know he played a few games in the middle, kicking anything that came close.

O'Shea and Smith got Croydon Ath up on a money laundering budget and took lewes down.
No thanks!

Who would you have then? Goldberg? How about Joe Francis or Gavin Rose?

If its being done on the cheap - George Wakeling/Billy Smith everytime
I like Goldberg and in principle would have no issue with him coming back again but if someone has quit twice before why would a third time be any different
Ideally I want someone proven who has actually had legitimate success at Non League level, Mark Stimson

MG, Wakeling or Francis - I'd be happy with any of those 3 - better the devil you know than taking a punt on others.
Appointment needs to happen soon. If the rumours Martin has heard are true, you can only be happy.

Sounds right about Harwood. I was told at the last home game that he was offered the capitancy if he signed up for this season. I thought he was HB's best signing. Looked to have quality and composure in abundance for this level.

I have good information that the new team will be the Lewes manager and Assistant...not because of their ability but bringing more money into the club...watch this space!
