Well done to Wimbledon today,4-3 wins on pens.Feel it's only right they are in the league as it wasn't there fault that they had there club taken away from them.

We had some good and bad experiences with the wombles ,it was a proper rivalry for a while ,shame some of them are wrong uns but the bigger the crowd the bigger the chance of idiots . Whatever your opinion of them they have done very well to get in to League 2 within 9 years ,cant see them movin up much further anytime soon but i have been wrong before .

I've been doing a lot of thinking about this and remembering how we got into Blue Square South before them but have since gone no higher and the reasons for this. Obviously they have climbed above a few hundred teams going through the divisions but very few have managed to get so high so quickly.
I have a few theories on why this might be, let me know your thoughts:
DESIRE - I wonder if the whole moving to MK saga gave the fans and AFCW club a huge amount of desire to get back to where they felt they belonged and that nothing was going to get in their way until they achieved it? Almost no clubs have that much desire as we have proven but becoming a mid table team. Or chairmen throw silly money at promotion and then pull out and it all goes bad.
UNITY - Similar to desire, I wonder if again the fans, board, players etc are so united by what happened that they all pulled together and just wouldn't stop until they got what they wanted. Again there is very little unity as I see it here between fans, the players, chairman etc.
STRUCTURE - As I understand it the club are run and owned by the fans so again everyone buys into the bigger picture and pulls in one direction. Are clubs run by fans the way forward?
On paper in the Conference you wouldn't rank AFCW above the likes of Luton, Wrexham et al who have until a year or 2 back been league teams but something has made AFCW different to the point of getting promoted to the League in 9 seasons.
I guess they prove to the rest of non-league football what is possible when certain conditions are right, but I doubt another team will do this anytime soon (just look at FC United of Manchester)
Also I'm not suggesting that Bromley should be looking for League 2 football in the next x years but it does get you thinking about where your team is, what they are achieving and where the club's ambitions lie.

Having 3-4 thousand ready made fans has helped, as has moving into and taking over a ground that was already up to Conference standards. Wimbledon also have a very affluent fanbase who were able to give generously to the cause and a lot of freinds in the media. It's been well managed for sure and there was always the extra drive given their sense of injustice at the MK thing. I'm glad to see them gone from non-league football and think they have now just about found their level or maybe one division higher. Let's not forget every game with them was trouble and it tarnished the romantic element quite a bit when you face up to the reality of their attitude and minority of thug fans. No matter how well they do, I'd still rather be a Bromley fan.

Agree Col ,wouldnt swap being a Bromley fan ,i doubt anyone of us will take as much interest in them now they are in League 2 , they were a bit like the old Aldershot in Ryman in that it always looked ready to kick off & their were always lots more of them .Just treasure that play off semi when super Nic put the ball in the wombles net. Ryan Hall will get a horrible reception there next season .

Here's hoping Ryan repeats his party trick again...

All fair points and like you said Col, now you'll find things getting back to normal.
Sadly the pull of AFC even reached Australia.. Not only have I been having 'debates' with some other Sydney fans on the forum and have been accused of being jealous, they even tried to outsmart me about Ryman league matters but I soon put them in their place.
As if that isn't enough there is a rumor doing the rounds that they may be coming to Australia for a mini tour, if that's the case I will be dusting off my Bromley scarf!

Love it exiled.
I wish Wimbledon luck to be honest, the further they are away from us the better after witnessing the behaviour of their players, fans, board members etc a few years back makes to proud to be a Bromley fan.
