Anyone know if there's any plans for the car park given this recent increase in investment?
I parked in there for the Maidstone game and almost needed new suspension when I left! Some of those pot-hole/crators are getting stupidly big now!
Anyways, anyone heard anything?

From what I remember it's always been a matter of dispute between the club and leisure centre who should up keep the car park. Not sure if it's ever been resolved.

Add to the i walked through there for the Grays game... Pitch black & raining - it was like Bromley Somme. Had anybody slipped into those craters, I don't think they would have come out alive lol

On the subject of transport/parking to the game, Ashley here's a business idea : how about putting in a few bike stands so us cyclists don't have to bug stewards with where to leave bikes, and offer quid or two off entrance fee for those who cycle to game ? I cycled up to HL the other day, driveway is coming along nicely looks well smart. KTF

Seem to remember hearing that also Col. Surley a bit of cement/tarmac wouldnt be the worst investement. No point attracting people to the wonderful facilities if you have to break your rear axel getting out of the car park!

I wouldn't be surprised to see developments on the car parking situation once the 4G pitches are finished. I would have thought that additional parking round by them would be part of the plan.

Gotta say the entrance looks very good! The brickwork is there, no doubt some form or artwork/advertsting will go above. The drive is now coniffer lined!

It's hard not to have a begrudging respect for the energy with which 'Ash the Cash' is executing his revolution...
I dropped down to inspect the brickwork a couple of nights ago - it doesn't look at all bad. Not sure where the signage will go, but they'll find a solution. Of great interest will be the precise wording. I'll venture something like: Welcome to Bromley Arena - Home of Bromley FC.
Ah, for those innocent times when being a football club was a thing in itself.

CB - for me it's not a case of begrudging respect, but amazement at how much the place has been transformed, & I've only seen the new pitches in pictures & podcasts. the fence over the back, the refurbished bar, the driveway, & not forgetting the most important thing of the players on the pitch.
Ok so not all of the changes appeal to me, but they've spent a lot of money improving the facilities & putting building blocks in place rather than throwing money at short term things. Jerry did an amazing job during his time, & yes there have been a few things recently that we don't all buy into, but blimey, just getting the craters in the car park filled is good for me

I take your point, mate... It's as much a psychological challenge for me as a football/business one: I don't like change, and I don't like authority - so a revolutionary owner who resdesigns the Club in his own image is simply never going to appeal to me. Having said that, the facts speak for themselves: over 4K through the gates on Saturday, and a good chance to go second tonight.
Truth is, though - I think we should all exercise caution for now. It's too early to know whether the five-year plan is truly sustainable, or what the plans are for the longer term. How many clubs have been pushed into the Conference Prem or even the League by an ambitious owner, only to crash and burn after he sells up at the peak of their success?
Personally, I would to see a bit less haste and more gradual progress. But that's just the sort of bloke I am, alas.
C'mon Bromley!!

wise words SGC and CB, a good thread this one, I was listening to Maidstones Chief Exec on 5live the other night talking about their 4G pitch and he was really talkin it up (which he would I guess!) but he made a lot of sense - the revenue stream from their pitch is a very significant amount, it's used 7 days a week.... so in this respect the board and owners at HL may have made a shrewd spend, so hats off to them for their foresight. My eldest trains on the Bishop Justus schools artificial pitches down the road and the quality of them these days is excellent. I must go and have a gander at the new HL 4G tonight, but as we all know the real action is on the grass pitch at 7.45, Vamos Ravens !

Just a point regarding 3G/4G pitches. Do we think Saturdays game would have been so entertaining played out on a 4G pitch? Players slipping, thunderous slide tackles, sticky goalmouths !!! As much as the revenue makes sense, some of the character will be taken out of football!

fair point well made....personally I prefer football on good old grass too, but in terms of training in crap weather, hiring out to clubs and schools etc it makes sense to have some of these facilities. Apparently in UK we have one tenth of these type of facilities compared with Spain Italy et al, which going on recent national performances in big tournaments sounds about right.
