Newly converted fledging Raven here, please be gentle!
Now that the dust has settled a tad from last night, I just wanted to reiterate what a great performance it was by the team and management. Up against some experienced and highly paid performers they more than stood their own. My own particular highlight was watching Cookie late in the second half revelling in making a mug of Danny Kedwell! I thought Reece stood out for his tireless and unselfish work in the middle of the park, capping his display with a well taken goal. He must be a serious contender for Player Of The Year now.
Of course it’s a shame the gloss has been taken away by a few brainless herberts but hopefully with the help of the relevant authorities they won’t darken our door again any time soon.
Having being a supporter and long term season ticket holder of a professional side situated a few miles from Hayes Lane for several decades, it was with some trepidation that I accepted an invitation by a friend of mine, who’s been an avid Raven for the past few seasons, to make my first visit to Hayes Lane one cold Tuesday October evening!
To be honest I had never expected the place to make such an immediate impact on me, but as well as the surprisingly good quality of football on show (a 5-0 win always helps!) it reminded of what I loved about football for so many years but which has gradually eroded over the years thanks to SKY and all that entails.
I went home that night feeling totally revitalised about the greatest game in the world and since that first visit I’ve barely missed a game home or away, and I have already foregone my current league football season ticket. Watching the team home and especially away, meeting like minded fans and making new friends along the way has made it a fantastic experience, and believe it or not even the food on offer beats the overpriced 'cuisine' they sell at league grounds these days!
Here’s to many more happy years supporting the Brom. I’ve found my spiritual home at last!
