I used to be there on the front line fighting the war. Now I am just at home on the sofa keeping score.

Should have learnt my lesson after Margate & stayed home. The only positive I saw was Hak seemed really motivated, resulting in a goal & injury! It was in the script that Bradley would score, & a great goal it was too, no simple tap in.

Not sure whether to be upset about the final score – I can’t imagine a normal situation when leading 2-1, any manager would substitute a big central defender for a light midfielder, so not surprising we were picked off. I hope MG’s optimism in the Shopper isn’t misplaced as I found it hard to see many positives from the performance either. All the players look decent & promising, but it’s not resulting in too many shots being taken. I prefer MG’s attacking style of football any day over the Rod Stringer approach, but the current style doesn’t look like the old MG method as the crosses aren’t exactly flying in despite 2 wingers on the right & we’re not creating too much elsewhere either. Ali C is a perfect example, I still don’t think there’s anyone in this division to match him for ball skills, but how often does he do something sublime only to give it away? Hopefully the crucial missing factors are Jarrett & Fuseini as we looked decent enough the 1st few preseason games. At least if Jarrett’s injured it won’t make any difference as isn’t he suspended anyway?

But I’m not condemning anyone yet, we were decent the first few preseason games, so lets see where we stand after the 1st 3 games. Eastleigh seem to have found gold from somewhere with the amount they must be paying on wages so must be favourites, but we have the players to survive for sure, though I thought that last Xmas & we still took it to the wire
