 Looking forward...
« Thread Started on Apr 17, 2012, 10:50am »

Obviously we dont know what league were in just yet, but soon will come the time to review the season and im sure there's plenty that people will want to get off there chests but, in the style of Rafa Benitez...

20 different players have scored from Bromley this season - FACT
We've picked up 22 points in our last 15 games, which over a season would put us flirting with play-offs - FACT
This coincided with the new signings incl. Joe Welch joining and we've let in 13 goals in the last 15 games, when we let in 37 in the previous 15 games - FACT
The Hak is our Top Goalscorer with 17 - the majority scored in a pretty average team in the first half of the season - FACT
Waldren has scored double figures from midfield - FACT

Just a little tinkering in the summer and keeping the settled team - certainly Welch, Harwood, Swaibu, Fuseini & Waldren in the spine and, should we survive, we've got every chance of pushing for play-offs next year.

Taylor will possibly go, Williams is now a squad player, will he be happy with that at 30, im not sure - certainly needs to adapt his game to the midfield area, but would be great to be able to keep him.
Rhule will only get better, TuTu is a legend and would be great to have around a Play-Off chasing squad, especially having come through the leagues with us. Marlon takes some stick and can blow hot and cold, but has certainly been better this season than his first and Jones survived the clear out when the new signings came in and has always given 100%

Would think we'd aim to keep if possible ;

Welch, Moses, Harwood, Tutu, PJD, Rhule, Jarrett, Waldren, Fuseini, Ibrahima, Williams, Thomas, Malcolm, Hak,

Not sure who but if we could pick up one or two defenders / full backs with proven experience like we did with the attacking contingent a couple of months back and maybe a proven goalscorer at this level or above, with our attacking players we create chances, with a player who can take them and get 25/30 goals in a season that could be the difference.
Maybe someone else will come through the Academy this year like Rhule has last year - certainly expect him to get more game time next season if he can bulk up in the summer.

Would depend what the budget is for next year and we've got a job to finish this year.

I think you’ve jumped the gun by a week or so! If we don’t pick up points, the 1st issue will be whether or not we keep the current management next season!

Your last line is the most important one. If more fans don’t turn up, I can’t see how we could sustain the current budget unless things are really pushing along off the pitch. If we could sustain it over a season, surely Jerry/MG would have acted sooner & done something different when McKenzie & McBean left & Ginge was injured rather than just get BG on loan?

I believe we have PJD, Malcolm, Welch & Fuseini signed for next season (presumably only if we stay up). I’d expect Tutu, Jones, Harwood, Patterson & Hak to stay on too. I’d expect the budget to dictate a few other spots – Thomas, Swaibu & Jarrett in particular. And Rhule & Waldren’s future may depend on whether a higher team comes in for them – a BSP team might take a chance on Waldren & Rhule might be thinking his chances of making a step up are better elsewhere if he can get 1st team football – certainly a few times this season I think he’s been unlucky to be left on the bench behind other subs

Agree pretty much with all the above, of the 'other' players I personally rate Jarrett as the one who I would dearly love to see at Hayes Lane next season and think in a squad with serious play-off claims he would be vital - checking on his past managers, all seem to rate him as a top player, even in League One, but all have questioned whether he is the right player when things go badly, tempremant-wise.
A good goal scorer would certainly round the squad off nicely, and for my money none would be better than Jamie Taylor at Lincoln. Due to an injury when he first signed for them at the start of the season, he was left out of their squad and has only got occassional games, being on the bench, but is still scoring when he comes on. Short and no good in the air, but fast, a natural goal scorer, great attitude and a really nice bloke.
But as has been said, all depends on the next couple of results and how many fans come through the gates.

Further to grahams original post, I am going to wait till after Dorchester to make any comments, before looking at the playing squad, the first question has to be one of the management team (surely).

I have a suggested idea but for now its all about backing team and mgmt all the way till the final whistle on the 28th.

Welch and Swaibu are different class.
And Jarrett is a class above that. It was a monsoon on Saturday but he still played football and was leagues ahead of anybody else. He may also still be injured, he's the best player I've seen this season, even on one leg.

Getting new players in that are better than what we have already would come down to the budget - certainly a decent proven goalscorer wouldn't come cheap - i assume many of those from the leagues above would be full time as well.

Saw a report that Dennis Oli was maybe looking for a new club in the summer - definately a name ive heard of before that scores - would he drop into non-league though...

Remember the name Taylor from years back when he was scoring in our league for Horsham, wasnt he also at KFC for a while.

Would be good to have an out and out goalscorer to help Hak - someone like a Boylan, Booth, McDonnell = a shame about McBean really and whats happened to him as, if his attitude was right he would have been the ideal fit
