 Anyone know?
« Thread Started on Feb 9, 2012, 1:16am »

On the back of Wes Foderingham getting to Wembley with Swindon, does anyone know of any player that has graced the hallowed turf via the mighty Brom before making it as a player in the higher leagues.Am not talking about players who have been there and made it before dropping down the leagues actually playing for Brom before making it.Wes the 1st?

I do like 'Wes the 1st', sounds much better than 'Edward the 7th' or George the 5th' etc, c'mon Prince William, let ye be known as Wes the 1st upon your coronation!

Wes could be the first.
Carlton Fairweather just missed out on playing for Wimbledon in thre 1988 FA Cup Final, he broke his leg a few weeks before.
Sam Wood wasn't selected for Brentford's JPT Final team last season.
I can't think of any others right now.

Going back over the years, did Stan Charlton ever appear there? I know he had a spell with Arsenal before moving elsewhere. Presumably those who featured in the 1949 Amateur Cup Final are "per se" Bromley players who appeared at Wembley!

Matt Carmichael's last professional game was in the 1996 Endsleigh League play off final for Darlington 8-)

Matt Carmichael, what a player. Similar to Donal unless my memory is going, played centre back & forward for us.
Think Goodman 'only' made it to semi final. Dunno if he played at wembley in his international career though, think home nations has already been scrapped by then so unlikely.

Matt Carmichael - great player. Excellent stuff!
Jon Goodman played for Republiuc of Ireland who weren't in the 'Home Nations' Tournament. I know he got a B International cap and played alongside another ex-Bromley man Sean Devine that night V Wales at Tolka Park (0-0).
A very proud moment for this Bromley supporting Palstic Paddy.

A classy forward - seem to remember that we were only able to keep him for part of a season until he stepped up to the league - back in those glory days of the late 80's - wasn't that the Yeovil season -

Would have been Mcmenemy / Murrock / Dolke about back then as well.

Think he lasted a few games more with us than Jon Goodman - who joined, played a pre-season against millwall and then got snapped up by them - was it about £50k at the time - a great bit of business then by George Wakeling (the Harry Redknapp of non league footie)
